加州欧文市,2024年5月13日 —  Dr. 杰克·舒尔茨, Professor of Anthropology in the 文理学院, was called to be with his Savior on Sunday, 5月12日, 2024.

“We hopefully and confidently entrust our brother, 杰克·舒尔茨, into the loving arms of his Savior, 耶稣基督,” Dr. 迈克尔·托马斯。, president of 欧文康考迪亚大学. “While we grieve the loss of our colleague, 朋友, 导师, and teacher with a deep sigh of sorrow, thanks be to God that we do not grieve as those who have no hope! 他们必不再饥饿, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, 也没有酷暑. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes (Revelation 7:16-17).

Dr. Schultz came to Concordia in 1998. During his 25 years serving Concordia, he taught a variety of classes on campus including Introduction of Cultural Anthropology, 社会中的宗教, 文化与自我, and Native Peoples of North America, 等. He shared his many talents with countless students and colleagues, many of whom he welcomed to his home to learn metal craft and leather-working.

"Dr Schultz taught us all that our understanding of culture, 在社会和教堂里, is at the same time often compromised and flawed through a culture dependent on our sinful nature, 但也得到了救赎和珍惜, worthy of investigation and understanding, through the person and work of 耶稣基督,博士想道。. Bret Taylor, Dean of the School of Arts & 科学. “Jack had a way of answering questions with questions per his training in anthropology, and yet did so with a love and care for the individual he was speaking with that was also genuine and inviting. He will be truly missed in the classroom, 在走廊里, and sitting on the back patio laughing, 反映, and 导师ing the young and not-so-young. We thank God for the gifts that He provided Jack, and for Jack's willingness to share those gifts with so many."

Dr. Schultz completed an Associate of Arts with a concentration in education (with honors) at St. 温菲尔德的约翰学院, KS and went on to complete his Bachelor of Arts in psychology and education at Concordia University, 河森林, IL (now Concordia University-Chicago).
